What this site is

RifleScopeCalc publishes calculators, reference data and researched buying guidance for riflescopes and precision shooting optics. It is an information resource. It is not professional advice, not a gunsmithing service and not a substitute for the manufacturer documentation for your specific equipment.

Safety and your responsibility

Firearms safety is entirely your responsibility. Confirm any firearm is unloaded, with the action open and the chamber visibly empty, before mounting, levelling, torquing, lapping, bore sighting or measuring anything. Confirm a zero only on a supervised range or a safe, legal backstop. Know your target and what lies beyond it.

You are responsible for knowing and following the law where you shoot and hunt, including rules on land access, licensing, permitted cartridges and seasons. Nothing on this site is legal advice and the law varies enormously by jurisdiction.

Accuracy, and the limits of the calculators

We work hard to publish correct figures and we will sometimes be wrong. Specifications change without notice and manufacturers revise products mid-production. Verify any critical figure against current manufacturer documentation for your exact model before relying on it.

The calculators are planning tools. Angular subtension, exit pupil, twilight factor and ring height geometry are exact arithmetic. Twist rate uses the published Miller Twist Rule and crosswind uses the published lag time method, both of which are estimators. All trajectory output uses a G1 point mass model in a standard sea level atmosphere, which does not model spin drift, Coriolis or aerodynamic jump and becomes progressively less reliable past about 600 yards. Confirm every ballistic figure on paper at a measured distance before acting on it.

Prices shown are as at the time the page was compiled and change frequently. Every total on this site is a planning figure. Confirm current pricing with the retailer before purchasing. We are not the seller and we cannot influence price, stock or delivery.
