The short version

RifleScopeCalc is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

If you click a product link on this site and buy something, we may receive a commission. It costs you nothing: the price you pay is the same whether you arrive through us or type the address yourself.

What it changes

It changes which products we can show you, because we can only build a product card for something sold on Amazon. Where the right answer is not available there, we say so in prose and link a scoped search instead of substituting a product we like less. Some categories on this site are deliberately short for exactly that reason.

What it does not change

It does not change which product we recommend, and the clearest evidence is how often these pages tell you not to spend money. Every roundup names who should not buy the expert tier. The setups pages each carry a section titled what you can skip. The low light calculator points out that turning your magnification down does more than buying a bigger objective, and costs nothing. The mounting pages argue for the cheapest ring that clears rather than the most expensive one that fits.

Commission scales with price, so a site optimising for revenue would do the opposite of all of that.

How products are chosen

Products are verified live against the Amazon Creators API and every returned title is read against the product the page claims it is, because a search result is not proof of a match. Prices and images come from that payload rather than being typed, so a card cannot carry an invented figure. We reject a large number of listings, principally unbranded optics with no service path behind them, and the reasoning is recorded in the site source.

On pages where the arithmetic decides, the arithmetic decides. The ring height pages only recommend rings that genuinely clear the objective being discussed. A recommendation that contradicts the table above it would be worth less than nothing, commission or not.

Prices

Prices shown are the listed price when the page was last compiled and they change frequently. Treat every figure and every total on this site as a planning number and confirm the current price before buying.

Other relationships

We accept no payment for placement, no sponsored reviews and no free product in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page in question and not only here.

Questions

If anything about this is unclear, or you think a recommendation looks like it was bought rather than reasoned, tell us. See also our disclaimer and our privacy policy.
