RifleScopeCalc is a calculator-first optics publication. Readers arrive with a specific technical question, get an answer computed from their own numbers, and are shown the products that fit that answer. That audience is unusually far down the funnel: somebody working out what ring height a 56 mm objective needs has already chosen the scope.
What we are interested in
- Specification corrections. If we have published a figure for your product that is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. This is the most useful thing a manufacturer can send us and it costs nothing.
- Published specifications we could not find. Several of our pages say plainly that a figure is not published, particularly objective bell outside diameter, total elevation travel and eye relief. If you publish them and we missed them, we would rather cite you than tell readers the number does not exist.
- Affiliate relationships with optics manufacturers and specialist retailers, where the products genuinely belong in our catalog on their merits.
- Display advertising once traffic supports it.
What we will not do
- Paid placement or paid reviews. No amount of money moves a product into a tier it does not belong in, and we would have to disclose it anyway, which would make it worthless to both of us.
- Claim we tested something. We do not test optics in person and we say so on every page. Sending us a sample does not change that, because one person using one sample for a week is not a test and we will not describe it as one.
- Publish a specification we cannot attribute. If a figure is not in your published documentation, it does not go in a spec table.
- Anything outside optics. We do not cover firearms, ammunition, reloading or anything requiring a licensed dealer, and we will decline those approaches regardless of terms.
How products enter the catalog
Every product is verified live against the Amazon Creators API, with the returned title read against the product the page claims it is. Prices and images come from that payload rather than being typed. We reject a large number of listings, principally unbranded optics with no service path behind them, and the reasoning is recorded in the site source rather than being quietly dropped.
On pages where arithmetic decides, arithmetic decides. Our ring height pages only recommend rings that actually clear the objective in question, and our low light pages only promote optics with the objective diameter being discussed. A recommendation that contradicts the table above it is worth less than nothing.
